- A library card will be given to you for submission of a valid identity card or passport including a residence card.
- The minimum required age is sixteen.
- You may borrow up to 10 materials at a time for a duration of four weeks without the opportunity of renewal.
- It is not possible to borrow any reference works or periodicals, but you may use the library's copying machine (10 cent per page).
INTERLIBRARY LOAN
- In case you live outside Cologne or its immediate environs you may request our books through interlibrary loan. Please contact any library near you.
- We will also get books from libraries of foreign countries, as long as those libraries belong to The Japan Foundation. In this case the books are available only for viewing at our library.

- For literature research on specific topics please refer to our reference service. At present you can get information only through the web page, NACSIS-Webcat. Thus, we would like to compose a bibliographic reference of our library stock for you. We also can give advice on how to access special literature.
- Please send your request per post, fax or e-mail.
- We cannot meet requests for appraisals of Objects d'Art or reading and translation of documents. For further information please see our user information.
DOCUMENT DELIVERY SERVICE
- It is possible to order copies of articles from any periodicals in our library or libraries belonging to The Japan Foundation.
- Please pay the expenses plus postage in advance in terms of stamps. (1 page = 20 cent)

INTERNET RESEARCH
We would be pleased to assist you in finding Japanese essays or information on Japan. For research on Japanese web pages we offer the opportunity of using the computers in the library for thirty minutes at no cost. Sending and receiving e-mail is not permitted.MISCELLANEOUS
Our library belongs to the Arbeitskreis Japan-Bibliotheken (Working Group Japanese Libraries) to sustain cooperation between Japan related libraries. This includes not only libraries in Germany but also Japan related libraries in other countries as well.
